Romanian female director Anca Damian has won the best director award at the Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland (October 12-21) and the Mirada International award at the International Film Festival in Madrid (October 11-23). Now the director and her films are on tour in Poland, Spain and France.

In Poland, the director’s latest film, „Moon Hotel Kabul”, a Romania-France co-production, brought Damian the award for the best director.

Damian was in Madrid on October 21 to receive the Mirada International trophy, while her films were touring Spain from October 12 to October 22.

I am happy for the awards and I thank the International Film Festival in Warsaw and International Film Festival in Madrid for the honor of giving me these distinctions. Besides the passion that I put in my films, I have the desire for them to be seen. And these awards are important for their visibility,” said Anca Damian.

In France, Damian’s „Crulic, the path beyond” (2011) has been included in the programme of Fête du cinéma d’animation, with previous screenings at CineRoch Guemene on October 9,  at Cinema L’Ecran Saint Denis on October 17, and current and future ones at the Festival Entrevues de Belfort November on October 17-24.

„Moon Hotel Kabul” has the script signed by Anca Damian and Lia Bugnar, with Florin Piersic Jr., Ofelia Popii, Adrian Titieni, Alexandru Nagy and Rodica Negrea starring. The film is to hit the theaters in Romania soon.

Ivan Semciuc (a journalist), is a charismatic man nonetheless guilty of cynicism and lack of compassion. A seemingly meaningless sexual encounter with a translator in a hotel room in Kabul produces a vital revolution in Ivan’s unshakeable lifestyle. After Ivan’s arrival back to Bucharest, Ioana is found dead, with her wrists cut. Ivan starts living in the absent presence of Ioana, who is starting to be more vivid in death than in life, “reads the plot in the movie on imdb.com.
