Last month, Dacia’s Logan, Duster and Sandero were in the top 25 best-selling models in Russia, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) lobby group said on Wednesday.
Hyundai Motor Co.’s Accent subcompact, also known as Solaris, maintained its status as the best-selling model in Russia – 10,581 units, despite tough market conditions there, followed by Lada Granta (with 9.070 units) of AvtoVAZ.
On the fourth and fifth places were Duster and Logan, with 3,654 units, 3,496 vehicles respectively, while 11th place was occupied by Sandero, with 2,452 vehicles.
New car sales in Russia fell 19.4 percent year-on-year in August after a 27.5 percent drop in the previous month. The decline slowed thanks to the recent drop in the value of the rouble against the dollar, which prompted consumers to buy cars before anticipated price increases, the AEB said.
“Currency fluctuations continue to have an enormous impact on day-to-day consumer behaviour and demand for high-value goods like cars,” Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, said in a statement.
