The cities of Târgu Mureș, Sibiu, and Iași stand out for their excellent prices on draft beer in restaurants, according to a comprehensive analysis conducted across Europe by Numbeo, the world’s largest website analyzing living costs in all countries. Established in 2009, the Numbeo site examined the prices for a 0.5-liter draft beer in restaurants in over 250 cities across Europe, as reported by Adevărul daily.

Romania performs exceptionally well in this regard, particularly recommended for tourists from the United Kingdom, where beer prices have risen significantly this year. For comparison, the average price of a draft beer in London, the capital of the UK, reached approximately 7 euros this year, an increase compared to 2022 when the average price did not exceed 6 euros.

According to the Numbeo site, the cheapest draft beer in Europe is found in restaurants in the Hungarian city of Szeged, with an average price of 1.31 euros. The next three places are occupied by the cities of Szczecin, Poland (1.37 euros), Presov, Slovakia (1.40 euros), and Burgas, Bulgaria (1.48 euros). In fifth place in Europe for the cheapest draft beers is the city of Târgu Mureș, with an average price of 1.51 euros, followed by two cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely Mostar (1.53 euros) and Banja Luka (1.53 euros), and Vladivostok, Russia (1.55 euros). The Top 10 cities in Europe with the lowest prices for draft beer is completed by the cities of Sibiu (1.61 euros) and Iași (1.61 euros).

On the opposite end, Nordic countries and Switzerland have the highest prices for draft beer, with prices in all cases being over five times higher compared to the Top 10 cities with low beer prices. The city with the most expensive draft beer in all of Europe is Tromso, Norway, ranking first with an average price of 9.40 euros. The Norwegian city, located 350 kilometers from the Arctic Circle, is followed in the rankings by Bergen, Norway (9.27 euros), Reykjavik, Iceland (9.16 euros), Stavanger, Norway (8.97 euros), Espoo, Finland (8.75 euros), Oslo, Norway (8.54 euros), Trondheim, Norway (8.52 euros), Zurich, Switzerland (8.31 euros), Lausanne, Switzerland (8.30 euros), and Basel, Switzerland (8.29 euros).
