Lactate Brădet owner: Under the Romanian law, none of our employees is sick

Amid scandal over E.coli infected employees, Marius Badea, the owner of Lactate Brădet company said on Wednesday that “none of the company’s employees is sick under the Romanian legislation” and that ‘no test sampled in the plant is positive’. He added that all the seven employees diagnosed with E.coli bacteria, three of them with a strain causing the hemolytic uremic syndrome, were not working directly with the cheese products, but at the packing department.

“The famous cheese found with certain problems in the store was sent for tests in Germany. Our counter-sample was negative, so we must probe into what happened along the way,” the owner of Lactate Brădet told a press conference.

“Regarding E.coli tests, since we stopped the production we’ve been running tests to see if we are guilty or not. There is no proof so far, the Cantacuzino institute said there is no link between the babies’ death and our products,” Badea argued.

“We particularly asked for tests to be run at Cantacuzino to see if there is any connection. Nobody went public to say that we are mistaking. Our products are good quality, even if those people have E.coli bacteria. If our products had problems, shouldn’t we have an epidemics?,” the owner added.

He accused the state authorities which sampled those tests that they hadn’t informed him and that he had found out their results in the media, although he says he “asked for the information.”
