U.S. to invest USD 3 M to revamp the air base in Câmpia Turzii

The United States of America will invest over USD 200 million to revamp or build military units in Europe, Digi24 reports.

Among the military units to get such investments is also the air base in Câmpia Turzii in Cluj county (central Romania). According to the Pentagon’s budget in 2018, almost USD 3 million will be invested in the Romanian military unit.

Besides the air base in Câmpia Turzii, other similar facilities will be revamped in Europe: in Estonia, Slovakia, Latvia, Hungary, Iceland, Luxembourg or Norway.

Romanian Air Force’s RoAF 71st Air Base is located in Câmpia Turzii. The base was also home to the 323rd Air Expedition Wing of the US Air Force during the NATO Summit of 2008.

In April 2015, a U.S. Air Force group of A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft stationed in Germany arrived at the RoAF 71st Air Base to take part in exercises with the Romanian Air Force.
