DNA requests the Senate documents regarding TVR

Anti-corruption prosecutors have requested documents from the Romanian Senate on the evaluation of the Romanian Television activity during 2005-2015.

“Copies of the reports drawn by the Parliamentary inquiry committees on the assessment of SRTV activity during 2005-2015, together with the documents that were the basis for drafting the reports, will be sent to the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), as requested,” said Ioan Chelaru, deputy Speaker of the Senate, capital.ro informs.

“It is only natural to forward the documents. They are not classified. There is a Committee report and a series of transcripts that are preserved in the Senate’s archives. If the documents are not classified, we will submit them this week,” Chelaru said on Monday at end of the Standing Bureau meeting.

According to the DNA request, the documents are needed to address a file on ‘making checks on the possible offences committed in the signing of service contracts by the representatives of STVR’.

DNA is conducting checks at TVR, targeting commercial contracts in the past 10 years, public television officials have announced on Monday.

The request was made in July this year.
