Romanian low-cost carrier Blue Air is preparing to be listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), but the process may take three years, company’s officials announced.

“Any company, when it has a target, starts to build in time, brick by brick, the foundation. But we are in an early phase,” Gheorghe Racaru, GM Blue Air said on Tuesday for News.ro.

He estimates that Blue Air will record a turnover of EUR 400 million this year and about 5 million passengers carried, with an increase of more than 35 percent due to the increase of frequencies on certain routes and the launching of new routes, especially in Scandinavia: Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki.

Blue Air made a firm order Tuesday for six Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes and plans to buy another two such aircraft under the same conditions in the furture, making the local low-cost carrier the first Boeing 737 MAX operator in Romania.

Moreover, Blue Air will lease another 12 Boeing 737 from Air Lease Corporation, the partner with whom this collaboration started this year.
