President Iohannis meets business representatives to assess opportunities

President Klaus Iohannis met Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace with representatives of the business environment in Romania, presidency.ro informs. The head of state said in the opening discussions that he wanted to have a first meeting of evaluating priorities in this area in an enlarged format. More exactly, these talks were aimed at assessing the business priorities of the local market.

During the meeting, President Klaus Iohannis said that this first round of consultations was primarily designed to assess the opportunities, challenges and priorities of the Romanian business environment. However, President Klaus Iohannis underscored that Presidential Administration’s interest is to foster strong and sustainable private initiative and entrepreneurship in the Romanian economy.

Business representatives appreciated, according to the source, that through such meetings, the President of Romania gives them the opportunity to express their views on issues affecting the smooth functioning of the business environment.

At the end of the meeting, the president appreciated the views of businesspeople, that the predictability, stability and transparency of the economic rules are essential conditions to encourage entrepreneurship and investments, their importance being underlined even in his Presidential Program.

Businesspeople that took part to the meeting: Daniela Nemoianu – president of American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania), Florin Pogonaru – president of the Businessmen Association of Romania (AOAR), Mihai Daraban – president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Florian Costache – president of the Economic and Social Council of Romania (CES) and also the President of Romanian National Employers’ Organisation, Ovidiu Nicolescu – president of the National Council of Small and Medium Sized Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR), Matei Agathon – vice-president of the Alliance of Trade Union Confederations, George Constantin Paunescu – president of General Confederation of Industrial Employers (UGIR), Mihai Marcu – president of Romanian Business Leaders, Steven van Groningen – vice-president of Foreign Investors Council, Cristian Parvan – President of Private Service Employers’ Association, Adrian Vascu – first – vicepresident of the Union of Liberal Professions of Romania, Sorin Minea – president of Romalimenta, Mihai Manoliu – president of the National Confederation of Romanian Employers, Ioan Dan Gheorghiu – president of CONCORDIA – Employers’ Confederation in the Energy Field, Ioan Lucian – president of the National Union of Romanian Employers and Mihai Ionescu – General Secretary of the National Association of Exporters and Importers in Romania.
