New German ambassador in Bucharest welcomed by FM Melescanu

The new German ambassador to Romania, Cord Meier-Klodt, was received by the Romanian FM Teodor Melescanu to present copies of his letters of credence on Tuesday, reads a press release by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two officials exchanged views on the stage and the perspective of the Romanian-German relations, with stressing the joint interest to enhance and further develop the bilateral political dialogue and economic ties.

The Romanian FM and the new German envoy also evoked the significance of 2017, when 25 years are marked since the Romania-Germany Treaty has been sealed on the friendship cooperation and partnership in Europe, a landmark document of the strategic relationship between Bucharest and Berlin.

The talks also approached the main challenges currently ahead the European Union and the perspectives of enhancing the European project. The importance of a thorough Romanian-German cooperation in Europe was underlined.

FM Melescanu conveyed congratulations to the new chief of the German diplomatic mission in Bucharest, while wishing him good luck and assuring him of the entire support of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
