UDMR chairman Kelemen Hunor has announced on Wednesday that until the issue of teaching Romanian language in the  Hungarian speaking elementary schools is solved the collaboration protocol with PSD-ALDE ruling coalition in Parliament is adjourned.

We cannot talk about any renewal of the collaboration protocol with the ruling coalition. We signed this protocol for four years and it is still in force. We are making an analysis every parliamentary session. At the moment, until the issue of teaching Romanian language in the  Hungarian speaking elementary schools is solved, we cannot open any other topic. I hope it will be solved this week,” said Kelemen Hunor when asked if the collaboration protocol is in force or it must be renewed.

The UDMR leader asked for the reshuffling of the Education minister, Valentin Popa, last week, as he had taken two decisions without consulting the UDMR representatives. One is related to learning Romanian language in the Hungarian elementary schools and the other one is related to the acknowledgment of the merger of “Petru Maior” University with the Medicine Faculty in Targu Mures.
