Turkish authorities detained 457 “foreign terrorist fighters” in the first six months of this year, while they were heading to Syria to fight. Among them there is also a Romanian, sources within the Turkish army told Anadolu Turkish agency.

The detained suspects come from 32 countries, with most of them being Chinese. So, 241 in 457 are Chinese, 56 Russians, 12 British citizens, 12 French, five Dutch, five Belgians, two Americans, two Spanish, two Italians, two Bulgarians, a Romanian, a Dane, a Slovakian and an Australian.

Turkey shares a 900-kilometer border with its neighbor and has received nearly two million refugees from the south.

In retort, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Turkey hasn’t informed them on arresting any Romanian suspected of terrorism, but investigations are under way.
