Unemployment rate stood at 6.8 pc in August, number of unemployed down by 0.6 pc. Number of building permits up by 20 pc

The unemployment rate has stagnated in August to 6.8%, but the number of unemployed decreased by 0.6% as compared to July, to 626,000 people, according to the INS.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was of 6.8%, the same level as in the previous month and as the one registered in August 2014, reads the National Statistics Institute (INS) release.
The number of unemployed aged between 15 and 74 years was estimated to 626,000 people, down from 630,000 in July, being lower as compared to the same period last year, when it stood at 627,000 people.
Those aged between 25 to 74 years represented 77.1%.
By gender, men’s unemployment rate exceeds by 2.2 percentage points the rate registered by women. The male unemployment rate in August was 7.8% and women’s rate was of 5.6%.
For people between 25 to 74 years the unemployment rate was estimated to 5.6% in August, 6.6% for men and 4.4% for women.

Another release informs that the number of residential building permits increased in August by 20% against July and by 31.7% as compared to August 2014 to 4,766 units, and in the first eight months the number increased by 7.4%, being issued about 27,000 authorizations, according to INS.
