Serena Williams, Simona Halep, or Andrea Petkovic? Who will be October’s WTA Player of the Month? The winner will be announced Friday, November 7.
According to WTA website, Halep went 2-1 in Red Group play, defeating Eugenie Bouchard and pulling the upset of the tournament off by shocking World No.1 Serena Williams 6-0, 6-2. It was her first career’s win over a World No.1 and the first Romanian to do so. Halep then went on to dominate Agnieska Radwanska, defeating the Pole 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. In her WTA Finals debut Halep reached the final and would have to play Serena Williams again. Halep couldn’t summon up the magic again and fell to Williams 6-3, 6-0.
