Summer is over, so Romanians are already planning their winter vacations

In keeping with the traditional saying, it seems that Romanians are taking advantage of the last sunny days and are already making plans for their winter travels.

Compared to the same period of last year, the number of bookings made on a travel-tech company or winter travels increased by 52%, and the number of passengers by 58%. Moreover, it seems that Romanians are traveling with a clear schedule in mind, as the number of return trips booked increased by 82%, so far.

The top countries Romanians will be spending their winter travels in are Spain, the UK, Italy, France and United Arab Emirates. The highest growth in bookings is for travels to Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Turkey and Philippines, showing a growing interest in Asian destinations. However, Romanians have already booked trips to 75 different countries. The most popular cities for this winter are London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Tenerife, Rome, Dubai, Madrid, Vienna and Brussels.

According to data, this year Romanians started booking earlier than last year, with the booking window being 21 days longer in 2023, showing a return of trust in the travel plans, and suggesting that they are looking for better deals. Of trips booked so far for winter travels, the average time Romanians will spend on their vacations is 5.4 days, one day longer than last year’s average for the same period.

So far, 21% of Romanians prefer city breaks of up to 3 days for their winter getaways, 24% chose stays of 4 to 6 days, 29% will return in 1 to 2 weeks, while 15% chose longer stays of 2 to 3 weeks, and another 10% of 3 weeks to 2 months.

Prices are currently higher than last year by 28%, so Romanians paid 146 euros, on average for their tickets, which would explain why they’re already planning their vacations. The average price paid for short haul flights is 91 euros, 133 euros for medium haul flights and those who will travel to lands further away and booked long haul flights paid 445 euros, on average.
