Supreme Court rules Archbishop Teodosie remains under judicial control

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) has rejected on Monday the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) request to set the home arrest measure for Archbishop Teodosie (Teodosie Petrescu) to replace judicial control.

On May 22, the Constanta Court of Appeal rejected the same request.

Archbishop Teodosie refused to answer the questions from journalists, saying only that “nothing has been violated.”

DNA prosecutors accuse Teodosie of violating the judicial control because he was involved in accessing European funds. This had been explicitly forbidden for him by the court, tvr.ro informs.

Teodosie is prosecuted for fraud in the process of obtaining European money. According to the prosecutors, the prelate made false statements in which he claimed to use certain areas of land for agriculture.
