BOIRON Laboratories celebrated 90 years of existence, an event marked in Romania as well at a round table “Homeopathy, at the heart of integrated medicine”: 90 years of innovation, 90 years dedicated to research, health and homeopathic products.

The story of BOIRON Laboratories began in France in 1932 when twin brothers, pharmacists Jean and Henri Boiron began producing homeopathic medicines in response to demand from physicians looking for quality products for their patients. A rigorous French process of manufacturing homeopathic medicines was thus kicking off, which at that time were made with doctors’ own hands. They were guided by the desire to guarantee the reliability, efficacy and reproducibility of the actions of these drugs.

Today, after 90 years, BOIRON Laboratories means state-of-the-art industrial equipment, ultra-sophisticated devices designed by BOIRON Laboratories engineers, in collaboration with partner companies, to respond to the unique process of manufacturing homeopathic medicines: tubes, doses, sterile single doses, creams, syrups etc. Benefiting in particular from the latest technologies in management and execution software for production and control activities, Boiron Laboratories constantly invests in the most advanced equipment to guarantee the quality of medicines and production capacity.

The philosophy of BOIRON Laboratories is intrinsically based on respect for the patient and for nature. Homeopathy is a useful, respectful and sustainable solution for human, animal and plant health. Since its inception, Boiron Laboratories has consistently developed the principle of homeopathy integrated into medicine worldwide. International development has been achieved step by step, taking into account, each time, the context of local regulation.

Naturally, homeopathy overcame the barriers that separated it from allopathic medicine and gained the trust of both patients and health care professionals. The boundary between the two branches of medicine has become permeable because the place of homeopathy is within medicine and not “next” or “outside” it. Occupying its rightful place, homeopathy is thus claiming an increasingly important place in the therapeutic arsenal of the doctor and the pharmacist.

Homeopathy embodies integrative medicine because it shares its principle and model of care. It is part of conventional medicine because it uses drugs and health professionals. It is also part of complementary medicine because it allows patients to be accompanied to improve their quality of life, while making them actors in their health.

Dr. Raluca Ghionaru, attending physician, family doctor, and regional coordinator of the Romanian Association for Pediatric Education in Family Medicine, stated that homeopathy has a complex approach to the individual, the treatment prescription being made after a detailed discussion with the patient: “Therapeutic advice, attitude and actions of the doctor are aimed at the well-being of the patient. Filtering through professional conscience, which also means years of study and experience, yes, homeopathy can be recommended both separately and together with allopathic therapy. Speaking of discussing where homeopathy is in Romania and in Europe and where it is practiced in the world, I think that this certification of medical higher education institutions means a lot, because it means years of study based on medical records and experience. teachers who have practiced before. Homeopathy is a personalized approach to the patient and fortunately the family doctor thinks that he knows his best or should know the best of all the specialists, because he sees him often, he sees him when he is healthy and when he is sick and the family knows it too.”

642 homeopathic medicines registered in Romania, around 77pc of Romanian used homeopathy at least once

According to an Ipsos survey conducted in Romania in 2020, although most of Romanians mistake the homeopathy for herbal products or food supplement, around 77 percent of them used homeopathic drugs at least once, while 89% of the Romanian parents gave homeopathic treatments to their children.

642 homeopathic medicines are registered in Romania, but only 350 have been used so far, with Boiron’s goal being this number to reach 500. Among the new homeopathic drugs to be re-launched in Romania is Camilia for dental pains in babies and infants. “For 2023 we plan the launch of a medicine for cold, Coryzalia, in the form of single doses, for children,” said Silvia Măinescu, General Manager BOIRON Romania.

Line of homeopathic medicines based on therapeutic cannabis

Silvia Măinesc also told the anniversary event that innovation has never stopped at Boiron, announcing as a first that Boiron is developing a new line based on the therapeutic cannabis, which is pending approval in the USA to be prescribed for mental diseases such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and so on. “Boiron has obtained the green light to carry out researches to turn the cannabis into a homeopathic medicine“, said the GM Boiron Romania.

ABBI, the AI-developed cosmetics

Another innovation powered by Boiron is a partnership with ABBI that is resulting in a new line of customized cosmetics. More precisely, this year, BOIRON Laboratories announced its first major participation, apart from homeopathy, in ABBI: the only company in France that produces personalized cosmetic care products with the help of artificial intelligence and based on a selfie.

With a patented concept, ABBI is the only brand in France that produces customized cosmetic treatments. A simple photo is enough for a person to get in just a few seconds a free and individualized diagnosis of the skin, which will guide him in developing the formula, the treatment composed of the most suitable active ingredients for the needs of his skin. After 3 years of research and development, ABBI developed the SkanMySkin artificial intelligence module. It analyzes 20 areas of the face according to 7 visible criteria: wrinkles, sensitivity, shine, spots, pimples, skin brightness and roughness.

Cosmetics are composed of over 95% natural ingredients, do not contain controversial components and are delivered in an eco-responsible way. The concept addresses all skin types and colors, young or mature, female or male.
