The Supervisory Board of Erste Group Bank AG has extended on Wednesday Andreas Treichl’s term as President of the Board of directors of the Austrian group until mid 2020, a press release of the bank informs.
Friedrich Rodler, Chairman of the Erste Group Board of Supervisors, stressed that the institution’s decision was taken to ensure that Erste Group, run by Andreas Treichl, will continue its successful course in a competitive environment which changes constantly and is continuously under the regulators’ pressure.
Andreas Treichl will hold the position of Erste CEO until June 30, 2020.
Andreas Treichl, 63, was appointed general director of Erste Group Bank AG in 1997. Under his leadership, the group has become one of the largest lenders in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), with more than 16 million customers.
Erste Group is the leading financial provider in the Eastern part of the EU, having around 45,000 employees, serving 16.6 million customers in 2,900 agencies in Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia. The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), a member of Erste Group, is the largest financial group in Romania, with assets exceeding EUR 16 billion.
