Paralympics: First medal for Romania, judoka Alex Bologa takes bronze

Romanian judoka Alex Bologa has won the first medal for Romania at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. The blind athlete has won the bronze medal at 60 kg category, after defeating Uruguayan Henry Borges by ippon, Agerpres informs.

In the last sixteen round Bologa defeated Lee Minjae (Korea), in the quarter-finals he defeated world champion Mouloud Noura (Algeria) but was defeated in the semi-finals by Makoto Hirose (japan).

Alex Bologa, 20, is taking part for the first time to the games, he is totally blind since he was 6, currently is student to two faculties.

In the table tennis event, Dacian Maksin was defeated in the first round by Thomas Schmidberger (Germany) 3-0.

Romania is represented to the Paralympics by 12 athletes to compete in six events.
